The Kharkhoda plant is now Maruti Suzuki’s largest production site in the country and is integral to the company’s plan to ramp up its annual production to 4 million units by 2030. This ambitious target is backed by an investment of around Rs 45,000 crore, with the goal of reclaiming a 50% market share, which has recently decreased to 41%.
In 2017, Suzuki Motor Corporation set up the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, fully owned by Suzuki Motor Gujarat, a subsidiary of the Japanese parent company. The plant has a capacity to produce 750,000 units annually and serves as an export hub for popular Maruti Suzuki models like the Baleno, Swift, and Dzire.
The Manesar plant, which has been operational since 2007, works in conjunction with the Gurugram facility, with an annual production capacity of around 880,000 units. It manufactures several well-known models such as the Swift, Dzire, Baleno, and Ciaz.
Opened in 1983, the Gurugram plant was Maruti Suzuki’s first production unit in India. It has three assembly lines and produces approximately 700,000 units each year, including the Alto, WagonR, S-Presso, and Ertiga.
