KTM India has officially decided to discontinue its 125cc models—the Duke 125 and RC 125—in the country.
These bikes will not be updated to comply with the upcoming OBD2B emission norms, leading to their removal from the market starting April 1. The Duke 125 first launched in India in 2018, followed by the RC 125 a few years later. KTM introduced these motorcycles, anticipating a demand for premium and performance-oriented 125cc bikes. While they initially gained traction, their sales were overshadowed by Yamaha’s R15 and MT-15, which benefited from strong brand recognition and customer preference. Despite KTM’s attempts to boost demand through model updates, the strategy did not yield significant results.
With overall sales not meeting expectations, KTM has chosen to forgo further investments in its 125cc lineup. However, dealerships still have existing stock, and customers may find attractive offers, including discounts, insurance perks, or extended warranties, making it a good time for potential buyers to consider a purchase.
