KTM is considering launching the off-road-focused 390 Adventure R in India. While the new-generation 390 Adventure was introduced globally in two variants, R and X, India currently only gets the more touring-friendly S variant, which lacks some features found on the R. KTM is now re-evaluating the 390 Adventure R for India and may offer it on a made-to-order basis.

The 390 Adventure range is manufactured in India and exported to various global markets, giving KTM the flexibility to launch the R variant alongside the S and X versions. KTM is likely to sell the 390 Adventure R through select dealerships across India, where customers can test ride the bike and place orders. Although prices have not been officially confirmed, the 390 Adventure R is expected to have a slight premium over the S variant. Earlier this month, KTM announced prices for the new 390 Adventure range, starting at ₹2.91 lakh for the X variant, and ₹3.68 lakh for the S variant (ex-showroom, India).
KTM 390 Adventure R Specifications
The 390 Adventure R is designed with a stronger off-road focus, offering several upgrades to improve its off-road capabilities. It comes with a fully adjustable suspension that provides up to 230 mm of travel on both ends. The seat height is taller at 885 mm, compared to the 825 mm on the X and 830 mm on the S variants. The R variant rides on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoked wheels, fitted with Mitas Enduro Trail dual-purpose tyres. Unlike the India-spec 390 Adventure S, which has tubeless wire-spoked wheels, the R variant will not feature this.
All variants of the 390 Adventure are powered by the same 399 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which is almost identical to the one in the 390 Duke. It produces 45.5 bhp and 39 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The R variant, like the S, is equipped with a fully adjustable WP suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. Braking is handled by ByBre units at both ends. The S and R variants come with features like cornering ABS, cornering traction control, and cruise control.
