Ducati has officially stepped into the world of motocross with the launch of its very first dirt-focused machine — the Desmo450 MX. This new motorcycle not only marks the brand’s debut in the off-road segment but also introduces several first-in-class features that set it apart in a highly competitive space.
Packed with Advanced Features
The Desmo450 MX stands out with features rarely seen in motocross bikes, such as traction control, launch control, engine brake control, and two selectable riding modes. These electronic aids bring a fresh level of performance tuning and rider assistance to the dirt track — a bold move by Ducati.
Performance That Packs a Punch
Powering the Desmo450 MX is a newly engineered 449.6cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with a 96mm bore and a 62.1mm stroke. The engine delivers an impressive 62bhp and 54Nm of torque, with a redline of 11,900rpm — promising high-revving thrills for serious riders.
Lightweight and Track-Ready
The bike features a lightweight aluminium perimeter frame, designed with minimal welds to enhance rigidity and shed unnecessary weight. Tipping the scales at just 104.8kg (wet, without fuel), the Desmo450 MX is built to be nimble and responsive on the track. Suspension duties are handled by fully adjustable Showa units — a 49mm fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear, tuned for racing conditions.
High-Quality Braking Hardware
Braking performance is top-tier, thanks to Brembo components. The front setup includes a two-piston floating caliper with a 260mm disc, while the rear features a single-piston caliper paired with a 240mm disc — delivering strong and precise stopping power.
Availability and Price
The Ducati Desmo450 MX will initially be launched in the United States, with prices starting at $11,459 (around ₹10 lakh in India, before duties and taxes). With this bike, Ducati aims to make a significant impact in the motocross segment, blending cutting-edge tech with the Italian brand’s signature performance flair.
