Bajaj Auto is gearing up to introduce its entry-level, second-generation Chetak electric scooter soon. As per recent reports, the new model is likely to be named the Chetak 3001. According to data from Vahan, the electric two-wheeler market recorded sales of 1,00,266 units in May 2025, marking a 30% increase compared to the same month last year. Bajaj Auto secured the second spot with 21,770 units sold, trailing behind TVS Motor, which led the chart with 24,560 units, while Ola Electric finished third, selling 18,499 units.
While Bajaj Auto hasn’t officially confirmed if the upcoming Chetak 3001 will replace the current 2903 variant — the most affordable offering in the lineup — the new model is expected to strengthen the brand’s presence in the EV segment. The Chetak 3001 is likely to be equipped with a 3.1 kW electric motor, offering a top speed of around 62 kmph, and will draw power from a 3 kWh battery pack.
For comparison, the existing Chetak 2903 variant comes with a 2.9 kWh battery and delivers a top speed of 63 kmph, with a claimed riding range of 123 km. It takes approximately 4 hours to charge the battery from 0 to 80%.
Bajaj intends to retain the Chetak’s signature retro-inspired styling and dimensions. The new Chetak 3001 will measure 1,914 mm in length, 1,143 mm in height, and 725 mm in width, with a ground clearance of 168 mm. It will continue to feature 12-inch wheels at both ends.
Currently, the Chetak lineup starts with the 2903, followed by the 3503, 3502, and the top-tier 3501 variant. The second-generation Chetak range is priced at ₹1.10 lakh for the 3503, ₹1.22 lakh for the 3502, and ₹1.34 lakh for the 3501 (all prices ex-showroom). The upcoming Chetak 3001 is anticipated to carry an ex-showroom price of around ₹1 lakh.
