Staying true to its performance roots, the Desmo450 MX is packed with innovations and segment-first technologies drawn from Ducati’s experience in MotoGP and WorldSBK. Developed with direct input from its racing division, this motocross machine embodies Ducati’s philosophy of trialing high-performance ideas in competition before bringing them to the mainstream.
The Desmo450 MX is just the beginning of Ducati’s off-road ambitions. The company is gearing up to introduce a full range of dirt bikes in the coming years, aimed at attracting a new wave of riders. To support this shift, Ducati is investing in its dealer network by training select dealerships to provide top-notch service and expertise tailored to the off-road segment.
At the heart of the Desmo450 MX is a brand-new 449.6cc single-cylinder engine featuring Desmodromic valve timing — a groundbreaking first in this category. Tuned for aggressive off-road riding, the engine cranks out 63.5 hp at 9,400 rpm and 53.5 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm, with a redline soaring up to 11,900 rpm. A key highlight is its torque-rich performance from low revs, delivering 70% of peak torque as early as 4,200 rpm, allowing for sharper cornering and explosive exits. The result? Smooth yet powerful acceleration that reduces rider fatigue and enhances overall rideability.

From a tech perspective, the Desmo450 MX sets a new bar in motocross. It’s equipped with Ducati Traction Control (DTC), which intelligently manages power based on wheel slip and dynamic input, improving safety, lap times, and rider comfort. Complementing this are Launch Control and Engine Brake Control, both adjustable via two Riding Modes and customizable through the X-Link App. And for those chasing split-second advantages, a Quickshifter enables seamless upshifts without the clutch — a rare treat in the dirt segment.
With the Desmo450 MX, Ducati doesn’t just enter motocross — it aims to redefine it.
