A test prototype, suspected to be the upcoming Benelli Leoncino 250, has been seen undergoing road trials. Spy images suggest that the motorcycle is set to receive several updates before its expected launch in the coming months. Its previous version was discontinued in 2020 due to the enforcement of BS6 emission regulations.

Despite maintaining its scrambler-inspired design, the new model appears to feature some significant styling upgrades. Though camouflaged, the test bike showcases a more sculpted fuel tank with sharper extensions. The headlamp assembly seems to have been redesigned, while the rear section appears more compact with a revised seat. Additionally, the alloy wheels look unchanged, but a new exhaust system hints at a potential difference in engine sound.
On the mechanical front, the motorcycle is expected to retain its existing engine with slight modifications to comply with the latest OBD-2B emission standards. The previous model housed a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine generating 25.4bhp and 21Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. With a lightweight build of 162kg, the new version is likely to offer similar handling dynamics.
Before being phased out, the Leoncino 250 carried a price tag of ₹2.84 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated model, anticipated to arrive around the festive season, is expected to come at a slightly higher cost.
