Kawasaki Launches KLX230 Dual-Sport Motorcycle in India at Rs 3.30 Lakh
Kawasaki has introduced the KLX230 dual-sport motorcycle in India, pricing it at Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it a premium offering in the dual-sport segment. In comparison, the Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro is available at nearly half the price of the KLX230, making it a more affordable alternative.
Engine & Performance The Kawasaki KLX230 is equipped with a 233cc air-cooled engine that delivers 18.1 hp at 8,000 rpm and 18.3 Nm of torque at 6,400 rpm. The motorcycle features a 6-speed gearbox and comes with a fuel tank capacity of 7.6 liters.
Suspension & Braking The KLX230 boasts a 37mm telescopic fork at the front with 240mm of travel and a monoshock at the rear with 250mm of travel, ensuring superior off-road capabilities. The bike also includes dual-channel ABS for enhanced braking performance.
Features & Weight A monotone LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity is present on the KLX230. The motorcycle has a curb weight of 139 kg and a seat height of 880 mm, catering to riders who prefer higher ground clearance.
Competition & Comparisons The Kawasaki KLX230 faces competition from the Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro. The Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dakar Edition comes equipped with an adjustable telescopic front fork offering 250mm of travel, while the rear monoshock provides 220mm of travel. It also features handlebar risers and a seat height of 885 mm.
The Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro is OBD-2 compliant and E20 fuel compatible. It generates 19.1 hp and 17.35 Nm of torque. The motorcycle comes with three ABS modes – Road, Off-road, and Rally. The standard Xpulse 200 4V Pro is priced at Rs 1.65 lakh, while the Dakar Edition costs Rs 1.68 lakh.
Despite its higher price tag, the KLX230 offers a premium off-road experience, but the Hero Xpulse 200 4V Pro remains a strong contender for budget-conscious buyers seeking a capable dual-sport motorcycle.
